Flatpicker Hangout is Launched with Martin DX Giveaway

The Flatpicker Hangout site was launched today and includes lots of powerful tools to help guitarists learn and get to know each other. Started by Eric Schlange (who started the Banjo Hangout 8 years ago and now also runs the Fiddle and Reso Hangouts), the site has the same familiar features as these hangouts.

Donna Ulisse, Jerry Salley & Curtis Wright to perform at Puckett's Grocery

Sept 6 Song of the Mountain Taping Features Top Bluegrass Acts

Marion, VA -- Song of the Mountains is taping another fine concert at the Lincoln Theatre in Marion, Virginia for national distribution to PBS on Saturday, September 6th at 7:00 pm. "This year we will be offering 22 to 24 new episodes of our concert series to all 190 PBS affiliates across America", states Tim White the executive coordinator for the show. "We are in our fourth season now and we are excited to be doubling our episode count this year." The first three Song of the Mountains seasons offered 12 episodes per year.

Park Slope Bluegrass & Old-Time Jamboree is Sept. 12-14 in Brooklyn, NY

A performance by two of the founding members of the New Lost City Ramblers – the highly influential string band that jump-started the folk music revival in the 1950s – will be one of the highlights of the 11th annual Park Slope Bluegrass & Old-Time Jamboree. The NLCR's many recordings are available on Smithsonian/Folkways and have influenced musicians including Bob Dylan, Gillian Welch and the Grateful Dead.

California's First Banjo Gathering has Lots to Offer

Sacramento, CA -- Join other banjo pickers at California's first event devoted to the banjo in all its forms October 17-19, The California Banjo Gathering. Attendees are invited to participate in the various workshops, audio visual presentations, banjo history, jam sessions and performances. Banjo enthusiasts including exhibitors, luthiers, collectors and academia are all invited to attend the inaugural event.
